The winches on the EB and BVR are different. The EB winch was built by Morbark, where the BVR winch is purchased thru Ramsey Winch as a package and adapted to our chipper. Note that we do not use their tensioner assembly offered as it seems to cause more harm than good, and we set the pressure for the winch to 2100 psi. Even though the line pull is rated at 4,000lbs, we’re calling this a 2,500lb capacity winch.
This Ramsey winch is electro-hydraulically controlled from a 3-position rocker switch on each side of the machine. When the rope is out, feed forward is disabled, except for a jog function that allows the feed wheels to be moved in the forward direction in short jog advancements.
This winch cannot be installed on the EB as it is an electric over hydraulic controlled winch. Also, the mounting is slightly different on the BVR than it was on the EB.
The model of winch from Ramsey is their HDP-4000. See link below to their website with some limited specs: https://www.ramseywinch.com/product/hdp4000/
