Jacob and the team over at Guilty of Treeson put a 2023 1621x Brush Chipper up against a 2024 BVR16 Brush Chipper. Which wood chipper works the best for some logging activities? Jacob does an amazing job of breaking down what he likes and isn’t so fond of.

Jacob points out many of the new features like the easy access clean-out door, side-load anvil and the new chute rotation latch but one thing he really likes about the BVR is the placement of the control panel combined with the centrifugal clutch. At one point he says, “One of the things I really like about this chipper is that I can do all the controls from the Avant. Off, on, rev up, rev down. There’s no clutch, I can do everything from the Avant because everything’s right there!”

The BVR line features a control panel located right there at the infeed. That means no more running back and forth from the front of the machine to where the work’s being done just to make adjustments. You’ll just turn the chipper on, throttle up and the clutch engages automatically. An important feature of that ZeroClutch is the drum speed sensor. That sensor recognizes if something gets caught in the drum area or inside the chute and kicks the clutch out so it doesn’t get burned. These are the types of fail-safe features Morbark has built into their equipment which keep the cost of maintenance down and the chipper chipping!
